Window Screens

Types Of Window Screens

The main reason for having Window Screens is to keep away any insects, birds, or debris from entering a building or a screened in area. The area will still have the benefit of having a fresh air flow. In Australia, United States, and Canada most of the homes have operable windows with screens on them. These can be useful especially if a area has many mosquitoes in it. Usually it is normal for people that live in the cold climates to replace the screen with glass during the winter time as insulation. The most common type of screen that is used is frames that combine both storm and screen panels.

As most of us already know Window Screens are the most fragile part of any windows. Usually this is the first thing on the window that you will need to replace. The screens can easily get holes in them. This is easy to fix though you can buy rolls of some screen material and fix the problem yourself. There are also replacement window screens available.

Fiberglass, is one of the more commonly used replacement window screen material for new construction and replacement Window Screens. It is a good choice due to the economical value and ease of installation. All you would need to do is buy the roll of fiberglass screen, roll of spline, and a splining tool if your frames are in good condition. You will be able to do this by yourself. This would be the most cost effective way to replace the defective screen.

One very popular Window Screens is the aluminuim one. The aluminium screen is very durable and resistant to rust. That is due to the protective coating that helps it resist corrosion. Copper bronze is also another type of metal screening material. The bright gold finish on it will develop what is known as a patina on it over a period of time and help prevent it from corrosion.Of course, you will be paying a higher price tag for it. You should always take the time to consider what options are available to you when it comes time to replace your window screens.
